Gunfighter Ep. 3: Field Trip
Posted on February 05, 2010 by barry in Gunfighter, P-51, Planes, Shows, Videos
Once Ralph knew the deadline and the inspiration for building this unique custom motorcycle, he took advantage of his flight schedule to check out one of the most recognizable warbirds in the Commemorative Air Force fleet.
On a layover in Omaha, Nebraska he scoots over to Council Bluffs, Iowa* to see Gunfighter, the P-51D Mustang, and chat with pilot Larry “Lumpy” Lumpkin.
This is the first meeting for Ralph and Gunfighter, but it won’t be the last. This sleek fighter gives Ralph all the inspiration he needs to turn that empty frame into a lean, green-painted machine.
*It wasn’t that far to go, really. These two cities are right next to each other with only a state line dividing them.
